| Jumpers |
I don't know what's been going on lately. I keep seeing previews for movies that look like they are going to be pretty bad ass, but instead, end up being mediocre. Jumpers is another one of these movies. From the previews, the movie looked so awesome. I mean, people who can teleport where ever they want to? Awesome, right?
The movie wasn't s much. It starts off good enough. You see the main character's first jump and then watch him teach himself for a little bit. What does a 15 year old do with his new found power? Why, rob a bank, of course! Then we skip to 8 years later, when he lives is some penthouse, and jumps around the world on a daily basis.
The problem is that Sam Jackson is heading the evil organization of the Paladins and wants to kill all jumpers. So after a near death experience at the hands of a white haired Sam Jackson, what does our main character do? He goes to find his childhood love and takes her to Rome! Are we seeing some sort of problem here? Because I am!
I don't want to give away the whole movie so I'll just leave it at this. There's some more paladin attacks and another jumper joins the mix. From here on, it's all about the jumpers teaming up to save the girl, of course.
Now, aside from the rather bad plot, this movie had some horrible camera angles. Half the time you are looking at people's midsection and their heads are half cut off. I don't know what that was all about. I don't have much problem with the acting, except for the fact that I thought I was watching a new episode of Star Wars for a while. The movie also had that over used song, "Ladies and Gentlemen" by Saliva. I think it could have done without it.
My final verdict is to wait for video. The movie isn't so horrible that I would tell people not to watch it, but it's not worth spending money on seeing it on the big screen.
